The Project
Memory is many things: it is fleeting, painful, comforting, the air after a rainy afternoon, the last thing you see before sleep. Memory is the thing in your head, the receipts you keep, the photos you've deleted. Memory can be hard to grasp; Memory Lane is an attempt to make the intangible tangible.
The publication packet contains many things: a zine with collages of memories, accompanied by questions on what it means to remember; stamps with plant imagery related to remembrance; and postcards for self-reflection.
I started this project over the school break. I was back in my childhood bedroom, surrounded by the ephemera I had hoarded during my teen years. Inspired by a collage I had made at the time, I was moved to create more with the hoarded treasure pile. Eventually, I decided to compile the outcome of this summer activity into a zine that touches on memory and our relationship with it, befitting of how I approached the collages.
The zine packet was first released for sale at the Singapore Art Book Fair 2024 and has since become a permanent Yna Haus product, following me around to different art markets, including The Workshop Market and Taipei Art Book Fair 2024. XD
